Liedduo Barash-Kravitz

With great passion to the ancient connection between text and music, we create conceptualized art-song programs, diving into the world of a fascinating theme and exploring it from different angles. We are excited about performing lesser known and rediscovered music. Our main focus lies on the repertoire from the late romantic period to the 21st century and we espacially enjoy collaborations with contemporary composers.

Current Programs

Under Cover of Darkness

A nocturnal journey through the twilights, where the boundaries blur between dream and reality, reason and madness, memory and the present moment. In this darkness, the deepest corners of our subconscious can be illuminated.

Through carefully chosen, diverse program, with pieces by Richard Strauss, Rosy Geiger-Kullmann, Libby Larsen, Christisan Jost and more, we invite our audience to immerse themselves in the kingdom of the night, where the brightest sparks of our imagination can be discovered.

Renewal

A program full of nature symbolism with a true masterpiece at its core: George Crumb’s Apparition for soprano and amplified piano. Joined together with Aaron Copland’s Twelve Poems of Emily Dickinson, Songs by Rebecca Clarke and a brand new commissioned piece written for the Duo, we will explore the cyclicality which exists both in nature and in human life, from different perspectives. Those will be represented by texts of poets, who though separated by about twelve hundred years and thousands of kilometers, dealt nevertheless with the same immortal themes of beginning and end, loss, meaning and renewal.
