Danielle Barash is an Israeli soprano based in Stuttgart, Germany, who specializes in contemporary music, ensemble singing and interdisciplinary performance. She regularly collaborates with contemporary composers and has sung many world premieres in a wide range of genres, performing in festivals and concert series throughout Europe and Israel.
During the 2024/25 season, Danielle was selected as a member of the International Divertimento Ensemble Academy in Milan led by Alda Caiello. As part of the Academy she performed Luciano Berio’s A-Ronne (Soprano I) in the Rondò festival in Milan and the EXITIME festival in Bologna.
Danielle is a core member and soloist in the international CHOREOS ensemble, which consists of 16 voices and is one of the only ensembles in the world to create fully staged and choreographed productions of choral a capella music. With this ensemble she performs regularly in festivals throughout Europe and in renowned venues such as the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Festspielhaus Baden-Baden and recently the Alte Oper Frankfurt (Fratopia Festival). Upcoming performances include Lund's choir festival (Sweden) and Festival aCAPE'lla in Luxembourg.
Also a passionate choral singer, Danielle has appeared regularly with Hans-Christoph Rademann and the JSB Ensemble in venues such as the Liederhalle in Stuttgart. She recently became a member of the Philharmonischer Chor München.
Together with her husband, the pianist Elisha Kravitz, she formed the Liedduo Barash-Kravitz, which is characterized by its conceptualized art-song programs and dedication to lesser known and rediscovered works. Their main interest lies in repertoire from the late romantic period up to the 21st century and collaboration with contemporary composers.
Danielle began her musical education with violin lessons at the age of seven. Shortly afterwards she joined the “Moran” professional youth choir in Israel, performing at many important venues across Israel and Europe. After completing her Bachelor’s studies in classical singing at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music in Tel-Aviv, Danielle obtained a specialized Master’s degree and an Advanced Studies diploma in contemporary music performance from the Musikhochschule in Stuttgart (classes of Prof. Angelika Luz and Prof. Yeree Suh), graduating with high distinction. A further important vocal and artistic influence is the Israeli soprano Elinor Sohn.
Danielle participated in a variety of masterclasses for Opera and early music, including the Tel-Aviv Opera Summer Program, Neuburg Summer Academy for Ancient Music (Emma Kirkby) and the Urbino Early Music Festival (Alessandro Quarta). She is the recipient of prizes and scholarships from the Ronen Foundation in Israel, the Association of Friends and Supporters of the HMDK Stuttgart and the Förderpreis Familie Boos.
